can you explain hows recommendation factor into your application its a great question letters of recommendation are quite important that if you think about it thats the only component of your application where somebody else is talking about you for the rest of your application youre the one who is writing up a resume or writing a personal statement and talking about yourself and framing the narrative a letter of recommendation is a little bit of a leap of faith you ask somebody to write a recommendation for you and you dont necessarily know what it says actually you probably waived your right to see it in its entirety and its not that typical for a recommender to let you know what they said in a letter of recommendation um we get a lot out of them they tell us about what youre like in class what youre like interacting with fellow students and there are applicants who are not sometimes as strong in other areas but the letters of recommendation just really elevate them and you ge

College professors and instructors are the best recommenders for law school. Law schools are most interested in academic letters of recommendation and some will specifically indicate that the letters of recommendation must be academic. Even if the schools dont specify, academic letters are preferred.
You dont have to ask only those professors where you got an A in their class. Youll want to ask those who know you and/or your work the besteven if it was in a class where you didnt get an A. Especially if it was a demanding class, the professor can talk about how that B was hard-earned.
It is not uncommon for applicants to waive access to their letters of recommendation when applying to law school, even if they suspect that the letters will be positive.
Two letters of recommendation are required, but you may submit up to three. We strongly recommend that at least one letter of recommendation come from an academic source.
However, once your teachers submit their letters on the Common App, they are indeed confidentialyou wont be able to view them, at least assuming youve waived your right to do so, which is something you should do to so that colleges know your recommenders are being honest.
The most effective letters of recommendation are written by professors or work supervisors who know you well enough to describe your academic, personal, or professional achievements and potential with candor, detail, and objectivity. Letters that compare you to your academic peers are often the most useful.
Recommenders are strongly encouraged to submit their letters by the deadline, but will still be able to submit after the posted date. The application deadline is provided to recommenders in the Letter of Recommendation Request email.
Only you can decide whether or not to waive your right to inspect letters of recommendation. If you are uncertain, you may wish to ask the advice of people you know and trust (e.g. faculty, current graduate students, etc.).
