hello and welcome to this video in this video I will show you how to convert textual data into numbers in other words how to recode textual responses of participants in Likert scale questions into numeric figures so for this purpose I have downloaded this excel data file and before swing this data file I had to clean several variables means I had to delete several variables which were unwanted and I also deleted third and second rows of the downloaded data file and saved that data file into excel file format so you can see here there are a couple of seats the first seat is the renamed seat for the data and then the third seat here represents the values of variables or labels of variables so for example Q 11 through Q 18 these questions are likely to scale questions and they are related with attitude toward statistics so if I want to convert the textual data in these columns into numbers I will have to do this in Excel for run easy import into our commander so let us look at the sheet v
