hello this is dr eric bricker and thank you for watching a health care z todays topic is emr costs employers 50 pe pm so i obviously work with a ton of insurance brokers and benefits consultants one of the common things they say to me is that employers are getting pepm to death so that got me thinking what sort of health care costs are employers incurring that is not in a pepm so theyre not necessarily paying attention to it but its still there and guess what one of the huge costs to employers is on a pepm basis that they dont realize at all its the electronic medical record for the doctor themselves thats right the electronic medical record or the electronic health record or ehr can be incredibly expensive for physician practice in fact i was recently speaking with an emr company and guess what they charge they charge seven percent of physician practice revenue okay lets run the numbers on that seven percent here so on average employer uh an employee costs ten thousand dollars
