Encryption is the process of scrambling a message so that it can only be unscrambled (and read) by the intended parties. The method by which you scramble the original message, or plaintext, is called the cipher or encryption protocol. In almost all cases, the cipher is not intended to be kept secret.
For a straightforward substitution cipher, simply use the alphabet backwards, so that a becomes z, b becomes y, c becomes x, and so on. This substitution cipher would read: ZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA.
For symmetric block encryption algorithms, a minimum key length of 128 bits is recommended. The only block encryption algorithm recommended for new code is AES (AES-128, AES-192, and AES-256 are all acceptable, noting that AES-192 lacks optimization on some processors).
Encryption converts data into scrambled text. The unreadable text can only be decoded with a secret key. The secret key is a number thats: Created on your device and the device you message.
How to Make Encrypted Letters Open your letter in Microsoft Word. Click File, then Info. Select Protect Document. Click Encrypt with Password. Type your password into the box provided, then click OK. Microsoft Word will encrypt your letter.
A secret code, or cipher, is simply a substitution of one letter in an alphabet for another letter or number. I could say, for example, that instead of typing the letter E I will type the letter F instead. So house becomes housf. Another type of secret code transposes, or changes, the order of letters in a message.
Encrypt a single message In the message that youre composing, on the Options tab, in the More Options group, click the dialog box launcher. in the lower-right corner. Click Security Settings, and then select the Encrypt message contents and attachments check box. Compose your message, and then click Send.
Best Encryption Algorithms AES. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is the trusted standard algorithm used by the United States government, as well as other organizations. Triple DES. RSA. Blowfish. Twofish. Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA).
