Encryption is the process of taking a message and scrambling its contents so that only certain people can look at your message. There are two types of encryption: symmetric and asymmetric encryption. Lets first take a look at symmetric encryption to understand why asymmetric encryption was created. To do that, let me introduce you to Alice and Bob. Alice has a sensitive document that she wants to share with Bob. She uses an encryption program to protect her document with a password or passphrase that she chooses. She then sends the encrypted document to Bob. However, Bob cannot open this message because he doesnt know the passphrase that Alice used to encrypt the document. In other words: he doesnt have the key to open the lock. Now comes a real problem: how does Alice share this passphrase securely with Bob? Sending it through email is risky because others might find the passphrase and use it to decrypt any messages between Alice and Bob. This is exactly the kind of problem that

If your certificate validates on some of the Known Compatible platforms but not others, the problem may be a web server misconfiguration. If youre having an issue with modern platforms, the most common cause is failure to provide the correct certificate chain. Test your site with SSL Labs Server Test.
Why shouldnt you use Lets Encrypt? The biggest issue is that, although Lets Encrypt provides the modern standard of website encryption, it doesnt offer Extended Domain Validation (the green bar beside the URL, displaying the company name next to the padlock). Theres a difference.
Encryption is the process of scrambling a message so that it can only be unscrambled (and read) by the intended parties. The method by which you scramble the original message, or plaintext, is called the cipher or encryption protocol. In almost all cases, the cipher is not intended to be kept secret.
Encrypt a PDF or PDF Portfolio with a certificate For a single PDF or a component PDF in a PDF Portfolio, open the PDF. Choose Tools Protect More Options Encrypt with Certificate. At the prompt, click Yes. In the Certificate Security Settings dialog box, select the document components to encrypt.
Its simple Theres no payment, no validation emails, and certificates renew automatically. Its secure Lets Encrypt serves as a platform for implementing modern security techniques and best practices.
Difference between a free Lets Encrypt certificate and a paid Sectigo certificate. There is no difference in the encryption protection these certificates offer. However, Lets Encrypt certificates only provide domain validation (DV) certificates.
Cons. No Wildcard Certs Only single domain certificates can be issued. Multiple Servers Increases Complexity The Lets Encrypt validation request needs to be routed back to the server which initiated the request. This is difficult in load balanced/web farm applications.
It doesnt mean you can use it safely. As a further concern, little protection preventing distributors of malware from making use of Lets Encrypt exists. Malware distributors have already taken advantage of this. For example, around 15,000 certificates have been issued to phishing sites containing PayPal as a term.
