In this presentation by Justin Agree Smith and Ryan Eden, data encryption is defined as the process of converting data into a code, allowing only individuals with a secret key or password to access it. Encrypted data, referred to as ciphertext, differs from unencrypted data, known as plaintext. Encryption is a widely used and effective data security method for organizations. The presentation outlines two main types of encryption: asymmetric (public key) and symmetric encryption. The project's goals include researching various encryption algorithms to determine the best option and enhancing these algorithms. Five specific algorithms to be evaluated are DES (Data Encryption Standard), 3DES, AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), RSA, and Blowfish.
