Hi everyone in this video I want to talk about how encryption works. A few videos ago I talked about how DNS worked. I could think about if I am some. Person on a client machine and lets say for example. My name is Ethan. I found out one of my best friends sons actually watches my channel. So heaven. So Im sitting at my client and I want to talk to some server. I cant draw a server. But we can imagine its got blinky lights and bents. This server. Remember I think of it as I refer to it as a fully qualified domain name that actually maps to one or more IP addresses and the process used is I have a DNS client. I go and make a request to the DNS service if its not already cached. Some saying hey what is fully qualified domain name and what I get back is an IP address that I then want to go and communicate to. But if we think about that communication, everything on the web today is encrypted. Really, any page you look at is always HTTPS. If I was to jump over quickly here to the page

Data encryption works by securing transmitted digital data on the cloud and computer systems. There are two kinds of digital data, transmitted data or in-flight data and stored digital data or data at rest. Modern encryption algorithms have replaced the outdated Data Encryption Standard to protect data.
Data encryption translates data into another form, or code, so that only people with access to a secret key (formally called a decryption key) or password can read it. Encrypted data is commonly referred to as ciphertext, while unencrypted data is called plaintext.
If you want to check out the used algorithm or if BitLocker is currently encrypting or decrypting your files, you need a Command Prompt line. In the Start menu search bar, search for command prompt and select Run as administrator. Type manage-bde -status to check the status for all drives. Press Enter.
Sensitive PIIsuch as passport, drivers license or Social Security numbershowever, requires encryption in transit as well as at rest to prevent harm being caused to the individual if their PII ends up in the wrong hands.
File encryption is a way of encoding files, including the sensitive data they contain, in order to send them securely. The encoding prevents unauthorized access and tampering by malicious actors. It keeps a file from being read by anyone except the person or people for whom it was intended.
Your company should pay attention to how you keep your most sensitive PII, such as Social Security and credit card numbers, bank accounts and other sensitive data.
In simple words, encryption protects sensitive data from prying eyes by scrambling ordinary text (plaintext) into a form (ciphertext) that is impossible to read without the proper decryption key. An example of basic encryption is swapping each letter with the one that holds its opposite position in the alphabet.
Encryption is the process of encoding sensitive information to make it unreadable to anyone else except the intended party. Encryption plays a vital role in protecting your customers data. This technique protects the data from external hackers as well as insider access.
