An RPT file is a report file made by various programs such as SAP Crystal Reports or AccountEdge Pro. The files can usually be converted into other file types such as CSV, RTF, and PDF.
In most cases, RPT stands for report. A file with a RPT file extension will likely contain some report data. RPT files are often created by some version of SAP Crystal Reports, though it may simply contain ASCII text data, or it may be created by some other company and contain some other proprietary report format.

Now, open Excel, go to the Data tab on the Excel window and then choose From Text/CSV under Data Tools section. Select the Load to option to make Import Data table visible. Now the RPT file should be loaded in Excel and you can view it.
Within Crystal Reports, RPT is used as report or output files, storing data from multiple sources and databases. Users can filter and sort them interactively on PCs and Macs. As report files in AccountEdge Pro, RPT contain data from specific fields to report data in a customisable layout for users.
Open your RPT file with your standard application on your computer as usual. There go to File - Print or just press Ctrl+P (Dont worry, nothing is printed on paper!) Choose Microsoft XPS Document Writer as your printer. Click on OK or Print. Select a destination for your OXPS file and click on Save.
So, you have two options: Save the report externally (i.e., set the Build Action to Additional File and set the Copy to Output Directory to Copy Always or Copy if Newer) and use Load() as it was designed. This is how most online examples suggest you proceed.
Note: If you fail to open RPT files with Crystal Reports or AccountEdge Pro, it is likely that it is still not a text file and wont work with a text editor. To access the text-based RPT files on Windows 10, you can utilize any text editor, like the Notepad program built-in to Windows.
