Welcome to Office 2016 Video Number 6. In this video, were going to see how to create a business letter, create a letterhead, save as a template, and much more. Heres our complete list of topics. Now Im going to close this Excel file with the X up in the upper right hand corner or Alt-F4. Now, Ive already put my jump drive in and drilled down to our Video File Word folder. Heres all the files we created in the last couple of videos. We want to create yet another file and put it in this folder. Now, I want to show you a different way to open up a Word document. Normally we come down here and click this and then F12 to Save As. But if you are in Windows Explorer, you can come to the white area and right-click the wide area, point to New, and then look at that. We can create a Word document or an Excel file right here using Windows Explorer. So Im going to click Microsoft Word document. Immediately, it puts the file in the correct location and highlights just the file name, not the

Examples of business letters are job offer letters, cover letters that you submit on job posting sites, sales letters, investor interest letters, resignation letters, business circulars, shareholder letters, letters of recommendation, etc.
The seven parts of a business letter are: senders address, date, recipient address, salutation, body, closing salutation and signature. If you have documents attached with the letter, include a list of enclosures after the signature.
In Sample 2, you will see that there are two spaces between the address and the date; three spaces between the address and the salutation; two spaces between the salutation and the first body paragraph; two spaces between first, second, and closing body paragraphs; two spaces between the body, the complimentary close,
Align your text to the left and make sure your writing is single-spaced, with a blank line between paragraphs. There should be a two-inch margin at the top and bottom of the document and a one-inch margin on both sides.
Writing the Date in a Letter Two common date formats used in formal letters and business correspondence are the day-month-year format and the month-day-year format. Day-Month-Year Format: This format is widely used in many countries around the world, including most of Europe and many Asian countries.
Date: Leave two blank lines after the return address. Always spell out the month and include the day, a comma, and the year. Inside Address: Leave two blank lines after the date. Then type the address of the person or company to whom you are writing.
The inside address contains the mailing information belonging to the recipient and should be justified to the left margin of the letter and placed two spaces below the date (for very short letters four spaces is acceptable).
When writing business letters, you must pay special attention to the format and font used. The most common layout of a business letter is known as block format. Using this format, the entire letter is left justified and single spaced except for a double space between paragraphs.
