hey everybody this is a little lesson on how to embed quotes in your literary analysis paper specifically shorter quotes when youre analyzing literature you should always use quotes to support the interpretation of the literature so your quotes from the text are your evidence about whatever point youre making you could be making an argument you could be explaining something whatever you are doing with your paper you need some proof from the text and quotes are useful in a number of ways they add strength to your interpretation in the literature they also connect your paper to the book the novel the play whatever piece of literature youre writing about and then they help illustrate important points youre making in your paper remember youre painting a picture with your words right and those passages really help prop up whatever your point is that youre making so there are several rules for using quotes your first rule is that your quote should be brief and to the point like in this

There are three strategies you can use to embed quotations: set off quotations, build in quotations, or introduce quotations with a colon. Set-off quotations are set off from the sentence with a comma. Capitalize the first word of the quote. Notice the signal phrases (in bold print) used in the following examples.
Short quotations can be created using the tag, while long quotations can be created using the tag.
If you cant access the original source, then create a full citation for your indirect source in the Works Cited list. Then, for the in-text or parenthetical citation, use this format: (qtd. in [last name of author of your indirect source] [page number of quotation]). This answer was adapted from p.
Single quote marks can be included within the attribute value when the value is delimited by double quote marks, and vice versa. Authors may also use numeric character references to represent double quotes (#34;) and single quotes (#39;). For double quotes authors can also use the character entity reference quot;.
Just add a div with the class block-quote and put your text inside that. You can use the blockquote tag which indents it automatically, you can also use CSS to style it using text-align and font-style, or you could add padding to it.
The HTML element indicates that the enclosed text is a short inline quotation. Most modern browsers implement this by surrounding the text in quotation marks. This element is intended for short quotations that dont require paragraph breaks; for long quotations use the element.
The tag defines the title of a creative work (e.g. a book, a poem, a song, a movie, a painting, a sculpture, etc.). Note: A persons name is not the title of a work. The text in the element usually renders in italic.
We need to use a special set of characters called an escape string. Instead of using a single quote you replace this with a special set of characters. The browser will display the special set of characters as a single quote. For example, this strange set of characters #39; is the same as using a single quote.
