The ID tag should include the owners name, address, telephone numbers (day and evening) and the pets name. Here are some other tips: If you are traveling, put a temporary tag on your pet with the contact information of someone who knows how to docHub you.
Writing the word reward on the inside also has benefits. Sadly, many families may find a cute lost dog and adopt it as their own, even if the pet clearly has a phone number on the collar and dog tag. Offering a reward provides added incentive for the individual (or family) to call the owner.
Unfortunately dog theft is a real danger and if the thief knows the name of your dog this may help them pass on the dog to the unsuspecting new owners because it appears they know the dog because the dog responds to their name. We would therefore recommend, you do not put your dogs name on the tag.
Keep in mind that you may be out searching for your lost pup, so a cell phone number probably makes the most sense. Some dog owners also include their own name and a street address. If theres room, you can include additional information, such as whether your dog is microchipped or any urgent medical information.
Todays identification tags identify vital information about the wearer: name, Social Security number, blood type and religious preference. During World War II there were only three religious categories that could be put on dog tags: P for Protestant, C for Catholic and H for Hebrew (Jewish).
The DogTrac ID tags QR code works with any QR scanner. Newer smartphones and tablets have these built into the camera so just open the camera and point it at the QR code to search or activate a tag.
Here are some safe options to include on your pets ID tag: Your cell number and any other family members. Your addressoftentimes when a dog gets loose, she could still be wandering around the neighborhood. Im microchipped! (if applicable)
However having your dogs name on its identification tag is not required. In fact, many reputable organisations advise against your dogs name on your dog tag.
