Creating a Password-Protected Folder Type ren followed by the folders name. Press Spacebar. Type foldername. {2559a1f2-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0} (replace foldername with your preferred name). Press Enter. A new folder with a different icon will be created, and the original folder will be locked.
A new Zip File should show up in your current directory. Once the Zip File is created, right-click on it and select Properties. Under the General tab, click the Advanced button. Check the box for Encrypt contents to secure data.
When youve docHubed the right folder that contains the file you want to encrypt, right-click on the file. Select 7-Zip and click on Add to Archive The only details you need to enter are the Encryption Password. Enter a password of your choice, then re-enter to confirm.
Highlight and select the files you want to protect. Right-click these files and hover your mouse over 7-Zip from the menu. Select the Add to Archive option from this menu to open the Encryption menu. Type your password in the Password field.
To password protect a zip archive, you need to use the -e option with the zip command. The -e option tells zip to encrypt the contents of the zip archive with a password. In this example, archive. zip is the name of the zip archive, and folder/ is the folder you want to compress and password protect.
Type zip -e [name-of-new-zip-file].zip [original-file-or-folder-name] For example: zip -e mysecurefile.zip mydoc.txt. Press Enter, and Terminal will then ask you to set and verify your password.
Heres how to do it: Open your Spotlight Search bar and search Terminal. You can also find Terminal in your Applications folder. Type zip -er desiredfilename. Drag and drop the file or files you want to compress into a zip file into the Terminal window. Press the Enter key. Next you will be prompted to enter a password.
