hi iamp;#39;m chris smith and this is a short walk through on how to base 64 encode and decode some text values to do this weamp;#39;re going to look at using the retool utilities which is at retool.com utilities and these are free easy to use utilities for developers for all sorts of things converting data importing exporting data between different systems so you go to that site click on the base64 decoder and from here if you already have some base64 value you can input it and itamp;#39;ll decode the text to start iamp;#39;ll just show you how we can just type in some text here my test text and see if you click out of that field itamp;#39;ll automatically encode it here in the bottom so then you can take that base64 value and use it however you want it and if we go the other way we can just paste that in and see that it has decoded it so super helpful little tool hopefully this video is helpful for you let me know if you have any questions in the comments below and check

Base64 is a way of transforming any data into a gibberish of digits and letters. Today its widely used and taken for granted. Most of the time you use it because there is no choice: in many situations, only such text-like gibberish is considered valid.
In basic HTTP authentication, a request contains a header field in the form of Authorization: Basic , where is the Base64 encoding of ID and password joined by a single colon : . It was originally implemented by Ari Luotonen at CERN in 1993 and defined in the HTTP 1.0 specification in 1996.
Basic Authentication Concatenate username and password into a string with a colon between as shown: username:password Encode the resulting string in a Base64 variant. Prefix the encoded string with Basic ; the space after Basic is required.
Use the fglpass tool to encrypt a password from a RSA key. The fglpass tool can decrypt a BASE64 encoded and encrypted password using a RSA private key. The fglpass tool can encode a file in BASE64 form. The fglpass tool can decode a BASE64 encoded file.
Base64 Authentication Policy is used to authenticate clients with username and password only.
The Base64 Password Storage Scheme merely obscures the password so that the clear-text password is not available to casual observers. However, it offers no real protection and should only be used if there are client applications that specifically require this capability.
The Authorization request header contains the Base64-encoded username and password, seprated by a colon.
Base64 is a binary to a text encoding scheme that represents binary data in an American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) string format. Its designed to carry data stored in binary format across the channels, and it takes any form of data and transforms it into a long string of plain text.
