To password protect a URL go to the Security section in SiteTools and click Protected URLs. Under the URLs tab, choose the Domain and fill in the Path to the URL. If you do not have any users created you will be prompted to provide a user and password, which will be used to access the protected URL.
Link Lock is a tool for adding a password to a link; in other words, for encrypting and decrypting URLs. When a user visits an encrypted URL, they will be prompted for a password. If the password is correct, Link Lock sends them to the hidden website. Otherwise, an error is displayed.
How to create a password-protected link from your dashboard: Select your domain and edit the slash tag as needed, then enable the password-protected link toggle. Choose and confirm your password. Click on the Create link button to finalize the process.
Hardcoded passwords, also often referred to as embedded credentials, are plain text passwords or other secrets in source code. Password hardcoding refers to the practice of embedding plain text (non-encrypted) passwords and other secrets (SSH Keys, DevOps secrets, etc.) into the source code.

To set it up, follow these steps: Create an API User. First you will want to create a new API Access account. Give the User Site Permissions. Then add this user to a protected site on your account. Create your Emdedded URL. Copy the url for the site and add on the authentication parameters. Use the URL elsewhere.
I know that in Tableau desktop when you publish your workbook there is an option to Embed a users account password so that users dont get prompted to have to enter a user id and password.
