With general passwords, you will always have fine-grained control over who can access each individual password. But keep in mind that there are no permission settings for individual embedded passwords. To change who can access an embedded password, you will need to apply permissions to the containing item.

To set it up, follow these steps: Create an API User. First you will want to create a new API Access account. Give the User Site Permissions. Then add this user to a protected site on your account. Create your Emdedded URL. Copy the url for the site and add on the authentication parameters. Use the URL elsewhere.
Password protect a Box shared link Share Get Shared Link. Select People With The Link from the dropdown. Settings gear icon. Password Protect Require Password. Enter a password of your choice and share it with your intended audience.
