hello everybody this is Josh Hartman with todays quick tip today its about embedded fonts in PDFs and how to get them convert outlines when you do not have the font so say you have a client bring in a file a PDF of their logo in this case we have a logo here GXE mm and the client doesnt have the font file and you dont have the font and the font isnt a free font its a premium font so how do we get this into illustrator so we can work on it because right now this is the behavior were getting lets open the PDF and we get a warning that the Leviathan font is not found on the system and its going to be substituted was it substituted with your default font so this is now what we want so lets find find out how to do it correctly lets close out of this first up go to file new make a new artboard document and then lets go to file and place and choose that PDF and make sure that you have this checked link if you dont do that youll get the same behavior of the substitute fund so ma
