You can use the STRICT predefined variable to force ACL to require that all variables in a package are explicitly declared. See Predefined variables for details. There are three types of variables in ACL: integer, string, and character. Each variable type is preceded by a dollar sign ($).
You can create new variables in the workspace by running MATLAB code or using existing variables. You do not have to declare variables before assigning values to them. To view and edit variables, use the Workspace browser and Variables editor. (Some editing options are not available in MATLAB Online.)
There are two ways to set an environment variable on the fly: Set the variable on its own line, then use it anywhere: $ SOMETHING=some value $ echo $SOMETHING some value. Set the variable before a command, on the same line: $ SOMETHING=a value env SOMETHING=a value
Click the Add Columns icon in the Toolbar. ACL displays the Add Columns dialog box. The Available Fields box lists all the fields defined in the input file definition. To add fields to the Selected Fields list, you can [Add All], or select one or more fields and click [--].
To create a new variable Declare the variable in a Dim statement. Include specifications for the variables characteristics, such as Private, Static, Shadows, or WithEvents. Follow the specifications with the variables name, which must follow Visual Basic rules and conventions.
The INSERT( ) function inserts specified characters or spaces into a character string, beginning at a specified position in the string.
In the Default Value box, enter the computed expression by using the appropriate ACL function. For example: To convert a numeric field to a character type, use the STRING( ) function. To convert a date field to a character type, use the DATE( ) function.
