Get Started on Your Family Tree With billions of records from around the world, Ancestry is the place to discover your unique family history. Build your family tree on Ancestry.
You can upload your tree from Family Tree Maker to Ancestry by clicking Upload and Link to Ancestry from the Plan workspace. Or if you already have a tree on Ancestry, you can download and link it to a new tree in Family Tree Maker by clicking Download from Ancestry on the New Tree tab in the Plan workspace.
Because Family Tree Maker still syncs with Ancestry, a small segment of Family Tree Maker questions (those involving signing in to your Ancestry account or adjusting your Ancestry membership) can be addressed only by Ancestry.

Click on the Sync Status icon in the upper right corner in Family Tree Maker and click on Sync Now in the drop-down menu. Reviewing the differences reported in the Sync Change Log. In the Sync Change Log screen you will see a brief summary of detected changes for your sync.
FTM and . FTMB files appear to be file formats used with the Family Tree Maker software from Ancestry.com. This is paid-for software designed to map your family history through charts and trees in a variety of formats.
