XML stands for Extensible Markup Language. It is a text-based markup language derived from Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML). XML tags identify the data and are used to store and organize the data, rather than specifying how to display it like HTML tags, which are used to display the data.
The unofficial tag is used to embed XML data within HTML. Note that the tag is an HTML element, not an XML element. Data Islands can be bound to HTML elements (like HTML tables). In the example below, an XML Data Island with an ID cdcat is loaded from an external XML file.
The unofficial tag is used to embed XML data within HTML. XML data can be embedded directly in an HTML page like this:
In XML, data are marked up using tags, which are names enclosed in angle brackets ( ). Tags are used in pairs to delimit the beginning and end of markup. A tag that begins markup is called a start tag and a tag that terminates markup is called an end tag.
Embed Images in XML or JSON First, click the Insert / Encoded External File command, which is is available in Text View and Grid View for XML documents, and Text View for JSON files. Browse to select the file to embed, and then choose either Base 16 or Base 64 encoding.
You display XML messages to track inbound and outbound messages in the IDoc adapter. To track IDocs, choose Advanced Functions. To track where an IDoc is located or where it came from, select a line and choose IDoc Tracking. To display an IDoc in the remote system, select the line and choose Monitor.
XML stores data in plain text format. This provides a software- and hardware-independent way of storing, transporting, and sharing data. XML also makes it easier to expand or upgrade to new operating systems, new applications, or new browsers, without losing data.
There are two ways to describe an XML document: XML Schemas and DTDs.
