Embed or link to a file in Word Go to Insert Object. Select Create from File. Select Browse and choose the file you want to use. Select Insert. Choose Display as icon to embed, or Link to file for a link. Select OK.
In Word for the web, you can quickly embed web content such as videos, forms, slides, and more from several supported sources by just pasting the web content URL in the document. When a supported URL is pasted and detected as a hyperlink, it automatically shows up the corresponding web content in the document.
Linking refers to inserting a reference to a file in another location, while embedding refers to inserting the actual file in the document. An example of linking is inserting a chart from an Excel file into a PowerPoint presentation, while an example of embedding is inserting an image into a Word document.
On the Insert tab, click Pictures. Select the option you want to use for inserting pictures. The Photo Browser option helps you browse through existing photo sets on your computer, such as photos in iPhoto or Photo Booth. Picture from File lets you browse through your computers file structure to look for photos.
In your Word document: Highlight the text in which the URL should be embedded (usually the citation itself or the document title, such as Alias Grace) Go to the Insert menu (or press Control K) to open the Insert Hyperlink dialogue box. Paste the URL into the Address box. Press OK or hit Enter.
Insert a check mark symbol In your file, place the cursor where you want to insert the symbol. Open the Symbol dialog box: In the Font box, select Wingdings. In the Character code box at the bottom, enter: 252. Select the check mark you want. Once the check mark has been inserted, you may change its size or color.
Microsoft Word allows you to embed a TrueType font in a Word document so that you can view and edit the font, if licensing rights allow. You can do this even if you open the document on a computer on which the font is not installed.
Embedded objects become part of the Word file or email message and, after they are inserted, they are no longer connected to any source file. Linked objects can be updated if the source file is modified. Linked data is stored in the source file.
