The legend appears in a new pane and displays information about each layer that is visible at the current map scale. Not all layers contain legend information.
Right-click an item and click Remove. Uncheck a legend item to turn off its visibility without removing it from the legend. Reorder legend items by expanding the legend in the Contents pane to see the legend items. Drag items up or down in the list to reorder them.
Add or modify legend title text In the Contents pane of a layout, right-click the legend and click Properties. to open the Element pane. In the Element pane, click the Options tab . Check Show to display the legend title in the legend. Optionally, update the Title text.
