So Embedded means-- Im going to place an image, and its going to go inside this Photoshop file. Its going to be fully contained within this PSD. If I link it, its going to show it in this file, but actually its going back to this source, the original thing on my desktop, the whole time.
Photoshop has two options on how images within a file can be stored. They can either be embedded in the file itself or they can simply be linked.
Drag and drop an image onto your canvas from your files, or Navigate to File Place Embedded To add your image to the canvas. Right-click (or two-finger tap on Macbook) on your new image layer and select Create Clipping Mask from the pop-up menu to clip the image to your text or shape.
Definition: Embedding refers to the integration of links, images, videos, gifs and other content into social media posts or other web media. Embedded content appears as part of a post and supplies a visual element that encourages increased click through and engagement.
In Photoshop and in any other program Embedded means object contained in the Work File. Linked means linked 😎 to the object in its original place - if the original object or its original place are moved, the link is broken and the Work File wont show the object!
An embedded Smart Object has no connection with the original source image once its placed into a Photoshop document. On the other hand, when you add a Linked Smart Object to a Photoshop document, that linked layer or layers are still connected to the original document.
