To link to another topic or external site inline, you use the xref element. As a general best practice, people say to avoid inline links if possible, but if referring to another topic or page, it might seem odd not to include the link. The topic title will automatically be used as the anchor text for the link.
In the Insert tab, select Picture Stock Images. Select an image from the collection of images shown in the dialog. You can also type what you are looking for in the Search box to find the desired image. After selecting the desired picture, click Insert.
To insert an image, use the image tag and specify the placement attribute to set line wrapping. You can also choose placement=inline if youre inserting an image in the line of your sentence (such as a button image) or if you want text to flow around your image.
DITA topics have two different types of links. In the body of the topic, you can use the xref element to insert cross reference or inline links. In the related-links part of the topic, you can use the link element to insert links. Related links are also generated from a relationship table when you publish a DITA map.
Embed Images in XML or JSON First, click the Insert / Encoded External File command, which is is available in Text View and Grid View for XML documents, and Text View for JSON files. Browse to select the file to embed, and then choose either Base 16 or Base 64 encoding.
Inserting an image To insert an image, use the image tag and specify the placement attribute to set line wrapping. You can also choose placement=inline if youre inserting an image in the line of your sentence (such as a button image) or if you want text to flow around your image.
Use the element to include artwork or images in a DITA topic. The element has an optional @placement attribute that indicates whether the included graphic or artwork is rendered inline (a button or icon) or on a separate line for a larger image.
