You can create and embed a search index for an opened PDF document. An embedded index increases file size but docHubly speeds up searching on very long documents. Once embedded, the index remains part of the file unless removed and makes searching truly portable.
indexing: The process of recording where particular words occur. In the web context search engines crawl the web and make a list of which pages have particular words - this is the index.

In summary, indexing represents text data as sparse vectors of integer indices, while embedding represents text data as dense, low-dimensional vectors that capture semantic relationships between the words.
Embedded indexing, by contrast, involves creating an index in the same file as the books content, or via a connecting software tool to the books file, so that index entries not only appear in the compiled index but also link to tags or anchors within the books file at the location of the text passage that the index
Embeddings Index API lets you do just that. After creating an index based on a dataset, we will feed your documents to a small embeddings model with OpenAI every time you publish content. Then, we store the resulting embeddings in a vector database.
Create the index Click where you want to add the index. Go to References Insert Index. In the Index dialog box, you can choose the format for text entries, page numbers, tabs, and leader characters. You can change the overall look of the index by choosing from the Formats dropdown menu. Select OK.
