hi there my front end friends today were going to be talking about web fonts and I think for a lot of people one of the first things that comes to mind with web fonts is Google fonts and really Google fonts changed the game when it came to web fonts in general because it made them easy to use and at least for a while a lot more performant than self-hosting the performance thing took a big hit a few years ago when cross site caching bit the dust to prevent user tracking and more recently Germany ruled that Google fonts were a violation of gdpr which can be a pretty big pain for anyone living in Europe whos trying to be gdr compliant luckily though you can keep on using Google fonts but hosting them locally instead of relying on their CDN to deliver them meaning that you are gdr compliant plus if your host does use a CDN it should be nice and performant as well so in this video were going to take a look at how we can get the fonts in the first place optimize them so theyre not the su

The @font-face CSS rule explained below is the most common approach for adding custom fonts to a website. Step 1: Download the font. Step 2: Create a WebFont Kit for cross-browsing. Step 3: Upload the font files to your website. Step 4: Update and upload your CSS file. Step 5: Use the custom font in your CSS declarations.
When you embed the fonts in your publication, common system fonts are not included in the embedded fonts because they are likely to be installed on most other computers. You can choose whether to embed the system fonts.
Why Embed Fonts in PDFs for Printing? Embedding fonts in PDFs ensure that the text appears the same way it was designed, regardless of where it is viewed or printed.
Open the PDF in docHub Reader or docHub. Navigate to File Properties. Click the Fonts tab. If a font has the phrase (Embedded Subset) after the font name, then embedding is allowed.
Some Office apps let you embed fonts in your documents. That way, if you share your document with someone else who doesnt have the same fonts installed that you do, the fonts, layout, and styling of the document wont change, and special characters wont turn into meaningless rectangles.
Click File Info Manage Embedded Fonts. Under License Restrictions and Embed Font, check the font license details. If the license restriction says May embed, the font can be embedded. If the license restriction says Preview-only or May not embed, consider changing this font in your publication.
Business proposals, reports, and professional letters can use Serif fonts like Times New Roman and Garamond.
1) In Word, under docHub PDF, choose Change Conversion Settings. 2) Click on the Advanced Settings button. 3) Choose the Fonts folder at the upper left. 4) Next, do two things: First, check the checkbox labeled Embed all fonts.
