Embedding fonts ensures that all of the font information used to make your document look the way it does is stored in the PDF file. So, no matter what fonts a balloter (or reader) has on their computer, theyll be able to see the file as you intended it to be seen.
When PDFs do not have the required font added, it will change the font to what it feels is a similar font. Changing fonts can drastically change the layout of the file. PDFs were created to be sent around and used universally.
In Acrobat Pro, Tools Print Production Preflight expand PDF Fixups select Embed Fonts click Analyze and fix. This suggestion will not work if the font is licensed such that embedding is forbidden. In that case hopefully you have access to the source document and can use a different font.

Recommendations for embedding fonts It is better to embed all the characters in a font so that another user can successfully edit the file, if necessary. Use OpenType (.OTF) or TrueType (.TTF), if possible. OpenType fonts consume the least storage space when embedded in an Office document.
Open the PDF in docHub Reader or docHub. Navigate to File Properties. Click the Fonts tab. If a font has the phrase (Embedded Subset) after the font name, then embedding is allowed.
Some Office apps let you embed fonts in your documents. That way, if you share your document with someone else who doesnt have the same fonts installed that you do, the fonts, layout, and styling of the document wont change, and special characters wont turn into meaningless rectangles.
Embedding fonts in InDesign allows you to convert your text into a PDF file or an EPS, also known as an Encapsulated PostScript file. PDFs are more common, but EPS files are beneficial in their own way as certain programs may only allow for EPS files. Youll want to embed your fonts regardless of your file type.
