hello my name is Jason Wilson Iamp;#39;m historian for the Pennsylvania Capital preservation committee and weamp;#39;re going to take a tour of some of Pennsylvaniaamp;#39;s 400 Civil War battle Flags these flags were originally in the main rotunda of the Capitol and have been taken out and conserved from 1985 to 1992. so the first sample that we have is actually the flag of the 83rd Pennsylvania the 83rd was a western Pennsylvania regiment and you can see here where it was lettered over on the flag was originally to be given to the 157th Pennsylvania they didnamp;#39;t need a flag so it was re-stenciled given to the 83rd this is what we call a state issue color up in the Canton which is the field of blue here it has the coat of arms for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania virtual Liberty and Independence this is a 34 star flag on it you can see some samples of battle damage so some of these with the powder Burns and singes that you can see are where bullets actually went through the
