You can also set the date configuration as a variable on your system. Declare the today variable as $(date +%d/%m/%Y) for use in a script.
to create a log file (yyyymmdd-hhmmss-nn. log) with date and timestamps to within 1/100 second. Then, the batch file parses the first line of the output file. (The first For/f command could instead use Date/T, but the second cant use Time/T because Time/T displays time in a 12-hour clock format.)
How can this be done in the shell script? you can use following logfile$(date +%F). log this will let you create file with current date.
This appends the date to the filename - in the example in the question the date needs to go between the file name and the extension. This worked for me: echo test data-csv-`date +%Y-%m-%d`.txt Or: echo test data-csv-`date +%Y-%m-%d.txt`
Sample shell script to display the current date and time #!/bin/bash now=$(date) printf Current date and time %s\n $now now=$(date +%d/%m/%Y) printf Current date in dd/mm/yyyy format %s\n $now echo Starting backup at $now, please wait # command to backup scripts goes here #
Script to append date stamp to file: #!/bin/sh. filename=testfiles. txt. currenttime=$(date +%Y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S) echo Current Time : $currenttime newfileName=$filename.$currenttime. echo New FileName: $newfileName cp $filename $newfileName. echo You should see new file generated with timestamp on it..
Bash Date format YYYY-MM-DD The %F option is an alias for %Y-%m-%d . This format is the ISO 8601 format.
