Lets talk about character styles in Pages. Unlike regular styles that will style the entire paragraph, character styles can style just a word, a single character, a bunch of words, anything you want. Theyre very handy because once youve assign a style you can change it throughout the document. For instance, lets say we want to have a word thats going to have a certain style. Maybe its going to be Bold, maybe its going to use a different font, maybe its even going to have a different color. Just like that. You can see here ignoring this style stuff at the top and just going down to character styles, you can see the character style assign is None with an asterisk which means that Ive changed it from the basic none character style. I can click on this and theres a few that are already filled in but I can hit the Plus button here and create my own. Lets just call it Special for special words. Now you can see that the character style for this word is Special. If I select another

To add a Glyph: On your document, use either the Artistic Text Tool or Frame Text Tool to create a text layer and begin editing it. From the Glyph Browser panel, double click the desired Glyph to add it into the text.
Using the Keyboard pane On some Macs, you can set an option in the Keyboard pane of Keyboard System Preferences to access the Character Viewer by pressing the Fn key or the globe icon (if its available on your keyboard).
When you select text in a Pages document, the formatting symbols display automatically. Tap the text twice to display the shortcut menu. You can then use Select for a single word and drag through the rest.
On the Insert menu, click Advanced Symbol, and then click the Special Characters tab. Click the character that you want.

To start Character Map and see all of the available characters for a particular font, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Character Map.
Press ControlCommandSpace bar. The Character Viewer pop-up window appears: Use the search field at the top of the window, or click to expand the window and reveal more characters: When you find the character you want, click it to insert it into your text.
Use the Character Viewer to enter emoji, symbols, accented letters, and characters from other languages into your documents. In an app on your Mac, choose Edit Emoji Symbols to open the Character Viewer, or open it from the Input menu. Click the expand or collapse button in the upper-right corner of the viewer.
