Other times these are special symbols or even an emoji. There are many different ways to access these special characters. First lets look at doing simple accent marks and character variations. The simplest way to type these is simply hold down the key thats closest to the what you want to type. In the Font Book app on your Mac, select a font collection or library in the sidebar, then click one of these buttons in the toolbar: Grid. : Displays fonts in a grid, with a sample character or symbol. Double-click a font to preview characters, or to see the full repertoire of characters and symbols.
Other ways to open the Character Viewer Use the keyboard shortcut Control + Command + Space bar. Click Edit Emojis Symbols for the menu bar for supported apps.
Open System Preferences Keyboard Input Sources. Press and hold option on the keyboard to see some of the special characters (e.g. option + p = ) You can also click the check at the bottom of Input Sources to add it to your menu bar for quick access, then choose Keyboard Viewer or Show Emoji Symbols.
