Embedded Signed Certificate Timestamps (SCTs) and CT Poison are related to Certificate Transparency (CT), a mechanism to provide a publicly verifiable log of all SSL/TLS certificates issued by certificate authorities (CAs).
Certificate Transparency: step by step Website owner requests a certificate from the Certificate Authority (CA) CA issues a precertificate. CA sends precertificates to logs. Precertificates are added to the logs. Logs return SCTs to the CA. CAs send the certificate to the domain owner.
Certificate Transparency (CT) is an open framework of logs, monitors, and auditors created to help domain owners oversee digital certificates issued for their brands. CT logs help domain owners protect their brand by providing a way to find misissued or rogue certificates more easily.
CA issues SSL Certificate. SSL Certificate may include signed certificate timestamp (SCT) Browser validates SSL Certificate during the TLS handshake. Browser validates the SCT provided during the TLS handshake, either through OCSP stapling, through a TLS extension, or from information embedded in the certificate.
Browse to your website, then click on its URL under Main origin (on the left, in the security tab). This will display security information about your website. Towards the bottom, there will be a section titled Certificate Transparency, which will list the SCTs provided by your website.
In the left pane of the console, double-click Certificates (Local Computer). Right-click Personal, point to All Tasks, and then select Import. On the Welcome to the Certificate Import Wizard page, select Next. On the File to Import page, select Browse, locate your certificate file, and then select Next.
Under and Manage SSL for your site (HTTPS), click Manage SSL Sites. Scroll down to the an SSL Website and click Browse Certificates. Select the certificate that you want to activate and click Use Certificate. This will auto-fill the fields for the certificate.
A transparency required error means the websites SSL certificate was not properly logged when it was issued. Certificate Transparency is now a requirement for all trusted Certificate Authorities.
