Add Bates Numbers to a PDF. Open the file. Click Tools. Select Edit PDF. Choose More. Click Bates Numbering and Add. Select Output Options to customize the serial numbers. Click OK.
In the Edit PDF toolbar, click More Bates Numbering Add. In the Bates Numbering dialog box, click Output Options. Select the radio button for Add to original file names and enter %BATESNUMBERKEY% in the Insert Before or Insert After fields as desired. Click on the OK button.
In the Add Header and Footer dialog box click Page Number and Date Format and select the proper start page number. Under the Appearance Options put your cursor where you want the page number to appear then click Insert Bates Number. Set your preference.
Acrobat makes it easy to insert bates numbers and sequentially number legal documents and other pdf files. Once you open up the bate numbering function, you will have the option to select and choose one PDF file or an entire collection of PDFs to be numbered and arrange them in any order you prefer.

The original machine described by Bates allowed numbering with a four-digit sequence, ranging from 0000 to 9999. For example, page 852 in a document set would be 0852. Courts and law firms quickly adopted this system.
Bates Numbering For a single document, open the file, then select Tools / Legal Tools / Bates Numbering. Since Current Document is already selected, continue by clicking Next Make choices for your Bates number by selecting position, font, prefix / suffix and more.
Bates stamping is the process of applying a set of identifying numbers to a document collection of PDFs to label and identify them. You can use DocPreviewer to apply a Bates stamp to documents even if you dont import them into a case spreadsheet.
Steps to Add Bates Numbers to PDF Open a PDF file. Click on Organize Pages option. Click on the Bates Numbering option and select the Add button.
