Typically, it is an Identity Provider (IDP) product that will generate the JWT when a user logs in through an application, although it is possible for an individual application to create a JWT itself.
Identity providers issue third-party access s after users authenticate with that provider. You can use these access s to call the API of the third-party provider that issued them.
An identity provider (IdP) is a service that stores and verifies user identity. IdPs are typically cloud-hosted services, and they often work with single sign-on (SSO) providers to authenticate users.
In the JSON Web (JWT) standard, the jti (JWT ID) claim is a unique identifier for the JWT. This can be used to prevent JWT abuse, and to ensure the uniqueness of the JWT. The jti claim is an optional claim, but it is recommended that it be included in the JWT if it is available.
Comparing the Two. In summary, an identity provider is the software component that authenticates and issues a representing a user or other entity, while an authorization server is the server software component that validates and provides s that represent a user or other entity.
