This resource is designed for managers creating a whistleblowing policy. It outlines what a whistleblower is—someone who reports misconduct or wrongdoing within or outside their organization. Whistleblowing incidents often come to light only when issues arise, such as the dismissal of the whistleblower. Public opinion generally favors whistleblowers as they are seen to fulfill a civic duty, especially when allegations are justified. However, media coverage frequently portrays a negative perspective, focusing on the repercussions faced by those who expose wrongdoing and the stigma attached to speaking out.
