Correct a 1099 Already Sent Create a new 1099 to correct information on a 1099 you already sent to the IRS. Mark the Corrected box at the top of the form. Send the corrected 1099 to the IRS with a new Form 1096. You do not need to correct the 1096 you previously sent the IRS.
Heres how to file the amended form: Order 1099-NEC IRS forms online at IRS Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns or over the phone at 800-829-3676. Fill out the 1099-NEC form and be sure to select the Corrected checkbox. Once done, mail the form to the IRS.
This means you can take tax and wage data generated from payroll and import it to relevant W2 and 1099s. The information will be correct, and you wont need to spend time fussing over making your writing legible. So, can you handwrite a 1099 form? Technically, yes.
A 1099-DIV is voided pretty much in the same manner as a 1099-MISC. File the new form with the correct information (correct code or checkbox, amount, code, name, or address). Check Void, send it to the recipient, and then send another one to the IRS.

You can correct the name on copies of Form W-2 and Form 1099 that you use to file your return. Please include a copy of Form W-2c, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement from your employer or corrected Form 1099 with your tax return.
To correct Type 1 errors, file the correct form with the correct amount, code, checkbox, name or address and check the CORRECTED box (generally located at the top of the form). Submit the corrected 1099 form to the recipient and prepare the red Copy A to send to the IRS with the Form 1096 transmittal if paper filing.
