1 Answer open command prompt and find the directory with the file. type dir /X. this command will show the short 8+3 names followed by long names. find the file you want to rename and use command. rename "shortname" "newname" "shortname" is 8+3 name and "newname" is name you want to rename to.
You can't, with normal tools, rename a file while it's in the ZIP archive. Best you can do is to rename files as you extract them.
Rename a folder On your Android device, open Files by Google . On the bottom, tap Browse . Under "Storage Devices," tap Internal storage or Storage device. Next to a folder you want to rename, tap the Down arrow . If you don't see the Down arrow , tap List view . Tap Rename. Enter a new name. Tap OK.
To set an alternate extension: Open the WinZip Options window. Click WinZip Options in the Settings tab....For example: When you are naming a new Zip file in WinZip, type the name you want to use, including the alternate extension. Create the Zip file normally and then rename it in Windows Explorer.
How to Change File Extension in Windows 10 Open Windows File Explorer. Click the "View" tab. Tick the "File name extensions" option. Now you can see the file extension of all your files. Find the file that you would like to change the file extension, right-click the file, choose rename, and enter the new file extension.
Right-click on the selected area, click "Send to" and click "Compressed (zipped) folder." A new ZIP file will be created and you can enter a name for it once the process is complete.
On your Mac, select the items, then Control-click one of them. In the shortcut menu, choose Rename. In the pop-up menu below Rename Finder Items, choose to replace text in the names, add text to the names, or change the name format.
If you're on a Windows machine, try right-clicking the downloaded file and selecting "Extract" if you don't see that option, I would suggest downloading a third-party extraction tool like 7zip. Once you've extracted(unzipped) the files you should then be able to load them into your text editor of choice.
You cannot copy and paste from a . zip file directly into the same, or another . zip file. You have to extact the file, then add it to the new .
