A Statement of Error or Erasure (REG 101) form is required for any erasure and/or lined out information on the California Certificate of Title. For example, if an individuals signature appears on the title in error and is lined out, a REG 101 must be completed by that individual explaining the error.
If the title is incorrect, contact the DMV Call Center and ask about obtaining an amended title. If both the registration and title are incorrect, bring them to a motor vehicle office.
If the buyer does not sign the title and mail or give it to DVS, then the sellers name stays on the title of the car. If the buyer doesnt transfer the title within 10 days, the cars registration is suspended.
You must complete an Application for Missouri Title and License (Form 108) and submit it, with the incorrect title, for a corrected title to be issued. This transaction may be processed at any Missouri license office or by mail through our central office.
Instead, bring your title to the DMV to start to receive a corrected car title. There is still a chance that the title is accepted if you explain the situation. If you try to cross out your mistake or use whiteout, they will not accept it.
Change or Correct a Name on a Title To change or correct your name, submit: California Certificate of Title with your correct name printed or typed in the New Registered Owner section. A completed Name Statement in Section F of the Statement of Facts (REG 256).
Transfer of ownership between the seller and the buyer must be started with DMV within 10 days of the sale of the vehicle or boat. You will need: The California Certificate of Title. Signature(s) of the seller(s), buyer(s), and lienholder (if applicable).
If you are changing your name on your registration (not correcting it), you must submit your REG 256 and 227 forms, evidence of ownership, and duplicate certificate of title fee in person to a DMV office to complete the process.
