In this video, I will walk you through the process of making a decision and informing authors of a manuscript that has gone through the structured review process.   Structured review consists of a set of core questions that guide reviewers throughout the peer review process and provide clear information to editors and authors.   Please note that there are two different sets of core questions for research article and review article types. However, the core questions apply for all disciplines. Journals might add extra specific questions to these two sets. From the required reviews complete folder, access the manuscript for which a decision needs to be made. Go to the decision page by clicking on the Submit Editors Decision and Comments action link. It is helpful to use the following guidelines: Start with a one-sentence description of the papers main point, followed by several sentences summarizing specific important findings that lead to the papers logical conclusion. Then, highlight the significance of the important findings that were shown in the paper.
What is the difference between peer review and paper editing? To put it shortly, paper editing is reading and evaluating a manuscript and providing constructive feedback for your journal article. A peer review is a review done by more or less independent scholars of the same field to assess the quality of work.
References: The authors of peer-reviewed articles will show you where they got their information from, usually at the end of the article. 4. Format: These articles generally follow a format of abstract, introduction, literature reviews, methods, results, limitations, and conclusions.
Peer Editing / Review is an evaluative understanding level activity in which student judge the accuracy, credibility, value, etc. of the work of other students.
Here are some peer review examples highlighting the work quality: Kudos to Sarah for consistently delivering high-quality reports that never fail to impress both clients and colleagues. Johns attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence make his work a gold standard for the entire team.
The best way to structure your review is to: Open your review with the most important commentsa summarization of the research and your impression of the research. Make sure to include feedback on the strengths, as well as the weaknesses, of the manuscript. End the review with any additional remarks or suggestions.
Your review should be clear, constructive and consistent. Clarity is important because authors will not be able to respond to your concerns if they dont fully understand what they are. Reviews are most helpful if they dont just criticise, but also make constructive suggestions for how concerns may be resolved.
What does a good peer review look like? Start with a (very) brief summary of the paper. Next, give the Editor an overview of what you thought of the paper. The rest of your review should provide detailed comments about the manuscript. Remember that you have two audiences: the Editor and the authors.
