Therefore, if you want to make or print MTG proxies for your own, personal use, make sure youre not creating a close facsimile of a real card. The other golden rule is that you cannot sell proxies.
Proxy basic lands are only legal if a judge has issued them to replace a card that was damaged during play. Player-made proxies and proxies issued for any other reason are considered illegal.
A proxy card is used during competition to represent an otherwise legal Magic card or checklist card that can no longer be included in a deck without the deck being marked.
Proxy Cards or Proxies are printed or handmade placeholders for real cards created for testing purposes. Proxy cards are not legal for play in any sanctioned tournament but are often used in small testing groups to give players the opportunity to test a card without having that card in their collection.
Tips For Making High-Quality MTG Proxies Use a high-quality printer and cardstock paper. Use a template from a real Magic card to ensure that the size and placement of the artwork and text are accurate; Use a glossy finish to make the proxies feel more like real cards.
WPN Retail Stores may only allow proxy cards in your events as described in the current official Magic Tournament Rules. A proxy card is a card issued by a judge at an event to replace a card that has become damaged during the course of play and may only be used for the duration of that event.
The original card is kept nearby during the match and replaces the proxy while in a public zone as long as it is recognizable. A proxy is valid only for the duration of the tournament in which it was originally issued.
