The only way to remove or update your information from an FCRA background check or regulated website is to contest the accuracy records or provide proof of expungement or sealing. Some employers are allowed to see certain expunged or sealed cases on an FCRA check.
Most background check companies have an area on their websites where you can fill out a form and submit any documents that you may have to prove that they are wrong about their report. You may also file a dispute by mail, or over the phone.
Its best to notify the employer straightaway and provide evidence to prove the information is wrong, then, together, you can move forward to get the background check results corrected. Dont wait on this part, though, because the employer is under no obligation during the 60-day period to hold the job open for you.
If your background check report contains information you believe to be inaccurate, you can file a dispute. Examples of disputes include the ones below: A record reported doesnt belong to you. A record has incorrect details such as dates or charge type.
Heres how: Contact the credit reporting agency. There are three main credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. Contact creditors associated with the old address. File a dispute. Follow up on your dispute. Monitor your credit report to ensure the removal of old addresses.
Contact the company you applied with so they can update the information or request a new report. Checkr is unable to change the submitted information. For information on updating your drivers license, refer to How do I update my drivers license?
Youll be able to do this by contacting the background reporting company and following the companys instructions for disputing information. that you have the right to get an additional free report from the background reporting company. You must ask for it within 60 days of the employers decision.
