I am now going to show you how to raise sales and voices how to record sales and voices on xero so going back to the customer screen so we can go to customers here or all contacts either all we get a list of our customers and supplies depending on what we selected you can also access your customers and supplies at the top here with these tabs lets say we want to raise an invoice or record an invoice for parskit case if we click on Basket Case well be taken to that contacts account to the top left there is a new button sales invoice the sales invoice template will appear we simply just fill in the template from top to bottom click approve the invoice will then be added to the xero accounting software so we have two Basket Case the date of the invoice lets say its todays date the due date lets say its due in a weeks time the 16th of November the invoice States this is generated automatically by the previous invoice number so the previous invoice was 0045 so this one is 0046 if y

To edit the invoice Go to Sales then click Sales Invoices. Click the relevant invoice. Click Edit, then amend the details as required. Click Save.
After a posted sales invoice has been partially or fully paid, you cannot correct or cancel it from the posted sales invoice itself. Instead, you must manually create a sales credit memo to void the sale and reimburse the customer, optionally managed with a sales return order.
If a business makes a mistake on an invoice they have already sent to their customer, they must cancel the invoice with a credit note and then issue a new invoice. The credit note essentially pays the incorrect invoice so there is no outstanding payment.
If you have already issued the invoice but the customer has not paid, send a friendly email or make a polite phone call explaining the mistake, and then issue a new invoice. If the customer has already paid, make a correction adjustment on a future invoice, or issue another invoice or credit correcting the mistake.
The bottom line. While amended invoices are legal in most cases, its still best practice to avoid issuing incorrect invoices to begin with.
Call your customer You cannot simply correct an error on your invoice. This is because it is now an official document that you can only correct with an official credit or debit note. Before you do that, it is best to call your client. Explain what went wrong and suggest how you want to solve it.
Can you amend an invoice and is it legal? Generally, it is legal to amend an invoice that is missing information or includes an error. However you should never delete an invoice if this happens. It is important for auditing reasons that you hold onto records, even if they are incomplete or incorrect.
