What are the rules for ELD in Canada?

The ELD mandate in Canada will require truck drivers who follow hours of service (HOS) regulations to switch from paper logbooks to ELDs. Currently, the HOS rules in Canada limit drivers to 13-hours of consecutive driving in a 16-hour driving day and then a minimum of 8 consecutive hours off duty status.

Can dot see edited logs?

Yes. The original ELD records are retained even when allowed edits and annotations are made. If the driver cannot independently access the records from the ELD, the motor carrier must provide access on request.

Can you edit certified logs?

If you are a carrier and edit a certified log, then the driver will have to review the edit and accept the changes. Once the changes have been accepted then the driver will have to re-docHub that the new log is correct and accurate.

Who is allowed to make edits to an ELD record?

Guidance: Both a driver and authorized carrier staff can make limited edits to an ELD record to correct mistakes or add missing information.

Can you edit a certified log?

You can accept these changes as part of proposed carrier edits. Your administrator can make changes to your logs only if you have certified your logs. If you edit a log that has been certified, you must docHub the log again.

How do I edit past logs on motive?

If youre a Motive user, heres a step-by-step guide on how you can edit ELD logs easily. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard and click Compliance on the left-hand side menu. Click the Logs tab. Select a row you want to edit. Click Edit Log to make changes. To insert a new duty status, click Insert Duty Status.

Can a driver edit any drive time?

No. An ELD automatically records all of the time that a CMV is in motion as driving time that cannot be edited or changed to non-driving time. However, unassigned driving time can be assigned to a driver as personal conveyance (off-duty driving) or yard move (on-duty driving), as these are types of driving time.
