Using Edit Points, you can quickly and easily make certain changes into pre-defined shapes or shapes that you have created using the Freeform Shape Tool. So, lets first draw any shape from Insert Shapes drop down menu and from the Format menu click Edit Shape drop down menu and then click Edit Points. As you will click the Edit Points option, you can immediately notice that all the 6 white circle shape connectors will change into 4 dark black square connector and you are now ready to edit the shape. The default behavior while using Edit Points is Corner Points and that is why you are seeing 4 black squares on each side of the rectangle. By default, any clip that's in a sequence has four edit points: the in-point, or head, of the clip; the out-point, or tail of the clip; the in-point in the sequence where the clip begins and the out-point in the sequence where the clip ends.
Four-Point Editing If you have a six-second and seven-frame spot to fill in the timeline, select six seconds and seven frames of your source clip and send it all down to fit perfectly. However, it's pretty rare that your source clips are going to be exactly the right length to fit the timeline in and out.

Three point editing is a common non-linear editing workflow that requires you to mark a total of three points between your source (asset) and your destination (sequence). The ability to add mark points to the sequence optimizes the editing process and allows for greater flexibility when adding assets to your sequence.
Very simply, you do this by making a Split. You can either use the 'Split' button on the Video Tools | Edit tab, or you can type 'M' on the keyboard. Here G represents the good bit of your video before and after. Right-click on the bad (B) clip and choose 'Remove'.
Setting the output of a source clip and then editing the clip into a timeline at a specific point is sometimes referred to as 3-point editing. Using this method, you can insert and overwrite edits in an existing timeline or quickly construct scratch timelines from your bin clips.
