What is the best format to use on Kindle?

An EPUB file is the most widely used, and best supported format for an eBook. It plays on virtually all devices, including: Kindle.

Do you indent paragraphs in a book manuscript?

Manuscript format is to indent the first line of each new paragraph (and to double space). Don't skip lines when doing this, unless you're indicating a larger break in the story. This is the industry standard, so editors and agents are expecting it.

What is the best way to format an eBook?

How to Format Your Word or Pages Doc for Your eBook? Plain black text (font size of 12 is ideal) A basic font like Times New Roman or Arial. Line spacing of 1-1.5. Can I send EPUB to Kindle now?

If you are sending an EPUB file to your Kindle device, right now the only way to do it is through email. While the “Send to Kindle” desktop app makes things super simple, it currently does not support EPUB, but we do know that this is coming later in 2022.

Does Amazon still accept MOBI files?

Starting August 1, 2021, we will no longer support MOBI files for reflowable eBooks. Use EPUB, DOCX or KPF to publish new or update reflowable eBooks.

Why is Kindle stopping MOBI files?

MOBI and AZW are now outdated. Newer software features on Kindle devices and in the Kindle app will not work for these files. Any MOBI/AZW files already in your library will still exist and will still open, but may not have all features available as mentioned above.

Is MOBI better for Kindle?

Kindle Package Format (KPF) is a variant of KFX. On Kindle Direct Publishing's support page, they recommend using KPF for your eBook. In 2021, Amazon began recommending EPUB instead of MOBI. In 2022, Amazon discontinued the use of the MOBI.

Is Amazon discontinuing MOBI?

When should I stop providing MOBI files for reflowable eBooks? We recommend authors and publishers to start providing EPUB, DOC/DOCX or KPF files as soon as possible for new and/or updated version of your reflowable eBooks. We will officially stop accepting MOBI files for reflowable eBooks on August 1, 2021.

What program opens MOBI files?

Hold down the icon for the Mobi file attachment. A menu should open which says Open In. Select Kindle.

Is MOBI obsolete?

Amazon has announced the retirement of its proprietary MOBI file format for eBooks, and a transition to the EPUB format for use on Kindle devices and apps. As of August 2022, you will no longer be able to send the MOBI file format to Kindles or the Kindle app using the Send to Kindle service.
