okay so first im going to start out with the name check program or what we call the fbi background and name check program so as ms kamakai mentioned in her presentation the uscis does require or the law requires that you have good moral character as a qualification for citizenship so as part of the process of determining good moral character the us ifcis always conducts an investigation based on the biometrics or the asc appointments that mrs pepper also mentioned um so the investigation itself will consist of certain uh background and security checks which usually go through the federal bureau of investigation the fbi so when the fbi receives the request from the uscis after you have obtained your biometrics or after youve done your biometrics the uscis will send that information to several agencies but in particular to the fbi to do background and security checks um and so basically the name check must be completed uh typically before you are able to be scheduled for your intervie

Once youre 16 years old, its legally your own decision to change your name. If youre 16 or 17, youre treated in the same way as an adult, and you can change your own name (by deed poll) without your parents consent. (And your parents cannot change your name for you without your own consent.)

The fees are: $137 for an adult name change. name if the name is changed at the same time as one of the childs parents. If the childs name is being changed without a parent, the fee is $137.
An applicant may apply to legally change: their own name. the name of their spouse/partner with their consent. the name of their child/ward with the consent of the child when they are 12 to 17 years of age.
The only way to remove or update your information from an FCRA background check or regulated website is to contest the accuracy records or provide proof of expungement or sealing. Some employers are allowed to see certain expunged or sealed cases on an FCRA check.
