Go to the Object menu, then to Fitting , and select Fit Content Proportionally . The entire image is now scaled to fit proportionally within the frame. Another option would be to fill the frame. Go back to the Object menu, to Fitting , and select Fill Frame Proportionally .
To force a text frame to fit the text inside, open the Text Frame Options dialog box from the Object menu. Choose the third tab along the top, Auto-Size. By default, Auto-size is turned off. Choose one of the options from the pull-down menu.
Frames are designed to hold graphics or text that you want to appear in your document. They are basically containers or placeholders. Shapes can also hold text or graphics, but are usually used to create graphic elements. Shapes and frames are identical except for their appearance.
The Fit Content Proportionally command fills the whole content within the frame without cropping the image. Fit Frame to Content changes the frame size with respect to the size of the image. Fit Content to Frame scales the image to fit in the frame.
Choose Object Text Frame Options, or hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and then double-click the text frame using a selection tool. Change text frame options, and then click OK.
Resize the artwork and the frame Select the frame with the Selection tool, and then select Auto Fit in the Frame Fitting section. Now you can resize both the frame and artwork proportionally to suit your design.
Fit an object to its frame Select the frame of the object. Choose Object Fitting and one of the following options: Fill Frame Proportionally. Resizes content to fill the entire frame while preserving the contents proportions. The frames dimensions are not changed.
