Enable editing in your document Go to File Info. Select Protect document. Select Enable Editing.
Select the file you want to share. Click Share or Share . Under General access click the Down arrow . Choose Anyone with the link. To decide what role people will have, select Viewer, Commenter, or Editor. Click Copy link. Click Done. Paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.
On your Android phone or tablet, open a document in the Google Docs app . Tap Edit . To select a word, double-tap it. Move the blue markers to select more text. Start editing. To undo or redo an action, click Undo or Redo .
Open a file in Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. In the top right corner, click Share. Click Get shareable link in the top right of the Share with others box. To choose whether a person can view, comment, or edit the file, click the Down arrow next to Anyone with the link.
Make sure to select your document mode There are three document mode views you can choose from in Google Docs: Editing, Suggesting and Viewing. Google Doc files automatically open in Editing mode if you have access to edit the document.
Simply refresh the browser tab where you have the document open. Sometimes, if the page doesnt load properly, Google Docs wont let you type or edit text. Next, clear your browser or app cache, wherever you are using Google Docs to type or edit a document.
If you cant edit a file, a few things could be wrong: The file owner didnt give you permission to view the file. Youre signed in to a different Google Account. Someone else with edit access removed your permission to edit.
Edit with Suggesting Mode Editing mode: Lets you edit the document directly. Suggesting mode: Lets you suggest edits to a document that other people can review. Viewing mode: Lets you view the document read-only, which will prevent you from changing anything until you return to another mode.
Open the file. Click Request edit access. If you want, add a note to the owner of the file. Click Send request.
