Before a headstone can be re-set, it needs to be fully removed from its place. Because of the weight of a headstone, this usually involves a tripod, pulley, or other mechanism. Be sure that whatever mechanism you use is set on solid, level ground.
Skin-traced lettering is achieved by using a rubber stencil and a sandblaster. Memorial specialists pluck the headstone letters out of the stencil, then sandblast the headstone letters to remove the polish. The end result looks similar to a laser etched stone, but the letters are slightly deeper and brighter.
When adding an inscription or a name to your grave marker, the most reliable way is to hire an experienced and trained headstone engraver to perform the task on-site. This is usually done by utilizing modern engraving and etching techniques, including sandblasting, hand-etching, land laser-etching.
When it comes to tombstone name etiquette the order of names is generally: First Middle Last nee Maiden name (if applicable). This can be altered to include nicknames as such: First (Nickname) Last or First (Nickname) Middle Last. You can also include the maiden name in brackets like so: First Middle Last [Maiden].
The average cost for more detailed upright headstones is approximately $1,000 $3,000. The average cost for higher quality, laser-etched, hand-etched, or family and companion headstones is approximately $10,000.
Some headstones can also be reused, i.e. additional inscriptions can be added on the existing gravestones. The inscription can also be duplicated for a family estate or spose so the new monument matches the technique and lettering of the original memorial and inscription.
All headstones and markers must include: The persons legal name.
The easy answer is yes, you can put any name you want on a headstone. However, this isnt required.
