The Extract effect, located in the keying category, functions similarly to the levels effect but is designed to key out parts of an image rather than adjust brightness. It features a histogram to display the distribution of dark and bright pixels. To make black areas transparent, you can move the black point handle to the right, resulting in a pure black background. Activating the transparency grid reveals the changes more clearly, as it keys out the darker pixel range. Additionally, by adjusting the black point control, you can eliminate empty space, making everything to the left of the selected area in the histogram transparent. Softening the effect is also possible.
