Youll need to contact the IRS directly to update your address (you can use their toll-free number: 1-800-829-1040). If your return(s) are rejected by the IRS, you can simply change your address before resending your tax return.
Instead, the preparer or taxpayer should notify the IRS as soon as possible by completing one of the forms below: To correct the address for an Individual (1040) return, fill out the IRS Change of Address Form 8822.

If your address has changed, file Form 8822, Change of Address, to update your record. Future developments. For the latest information about developments related to Form 1040-ES and its instructions, such as legislation enacted after they were published, go to .irs.gov/form1040es.
If your previous years adjusted gross income was more than $150,000 (or $75,000 for those who are married and filing separate returns last year), you will have to pay in 110 percent of your previous years taxes to satisfy the safe-harbor requirement.
To determine estimated taxes paid, you can first check your bank account or credit card records. Look at the statements for the months you made payments. You can also get a transcript of your past tax returns online from .IRS.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript.
Use Form 8822 to change your home address. Check the box if you are a tax-exempt organization. See Pub. 557, Tax-Exempt Status for Your Organization, for details. Be sure to include any apartment, room, or suite number in the space provided.
